JAZZ ON THE AVE - Saturday, August 2, 2014

John Osler, is a Detroit artist of immense talent.  His black and white photography is featured in the recently published book, Detroit Jazz.  He is also a gifted painter whose work includes the 2014 Detroit Jazz Festival poster.  Osler’s paintings and photography will be on exhibit at Detroit Fiber Works on The Avenue of Fashion in Northwest Detroit during the month of August, 2014. 

The 2014 Detroit Jazz Festival poster will be available for pre-order, with all poster sale proceeds going to support the festival. Signed copies of Detroit Jazz will also be available for sale.

The show opens on Friday, August 1 through Saturday, August 30, with an opening reception on Saturday, August 2 from 6-9PM during the 6th annual Avenue of Fashion festival, JAZZ ON THE AVE.  From 5-8PM, Detroit saxophonist Rasul Ali-Shaakir will perform live at Detroit Fiber Works.  JAZZ ON THE AVE is a registered Arise Detroit Neighborhoods Day event which will include musical performances, children’s activities, and more. 

 Third Thursday, August 21, will feature a Gallery Talk with Mr. Osler at 7 PM.

Open since September 2013, Detroit Fiber Works features handmade, unique wearables and home accessories, and exhibits the work of local artists, with a new exhibition monthly.  Detroit Fiber Works also periodically hosts national and international artists.  The gallery/boutique is located at 19359 Livernois, just south of Outer Drive. 

HOURS:  Wednesday through Saturday, 11AM-7PM, open late on Third Thursdays until 9PM, with added hours for special events.
