Gee’s Bend quilts are incredibly beautiful. Please join us for a special presentation about the quilts and the quilters.
Jan Dolland has a special relationship with the quilters of Gee’s Bend, Alabama. She first met them in 2003, and has made more than 40 trips to visit with them, hear their stories, and share their love of quilting. Over the years, she has taken or sent more than a ton of fabric for these masterful fiber artists to use in their creations.
On Third Thursday, September 17, Jan will be with us at Detroit Fiber Works, where she will present a short film about the Gee’s Bend Collective and answer questions. She will also bring several Gee’s Bend quilts for viewing. We are asking for a donation of $5 or more and/or quilting fabric for the Gee’s Bend Collective. All cash and fabric collected will go to the Gee’s Bend Collective.
